Colonial Williamsburg
has permission from the US Postal Service to use this special
postmark, which, I've been told, is the same one used in the 18th century. (Except, of course, for the date). It's a wonderful cancellation stamp, and one of the reasons I wanted to mail postcards from
Williamsburg. The house image is letterpress printed, and one I picked to match the slave quarter theme on the reverse side of the postcard. I was lucky to find
the Harriet Tubman stamp (although from Civil War era, a century later) to at least visually complement the slavery theme.
