RED ROSES PRESS

During the 1998 APA Wayzgoose in St. Louis, I had the opportunity to visit Mike and Patty Anton's Red Roses Press, and took these pictures.  This shop is also home to Hobby Horse Press, proprietor, Karen Anton (Mike and Patty's daughter). Mike collects Golding presses, and we had a chance to see a fine collection of them in the Antons' shop.

Golding Jobber

Mike Anton shows off a miniature press to admiring printers Rick von Holdt (L) and Dale Stedman.

Golding Jobber

This lovely press is a Golding Jobber (made from 1874 to 1927)  That's Gale Mueller, printer and wood engraver, in the background.

Golding Official

Mike Anton, kneeling, discussing presses with Duane Scott, of the Scott Free Press (my dad.) I think maybe they're looking at a Golding Map Official.

Old Style Pearl #3

Old Style Pearl #3. (Made from 1876--1927).  This lovely press is my favorite Golding press. Notice that it has three drawers, which helps distinguish it from the #1 Pearl, which has a more squat appearance, andtwo drawers.
