When our own teacher, Jody Marshall, stepped out onto the stage for a concert performance Thursday night, I discovered what a talented
performer, as well as teacher, Jody is. Her music is magical! I immediately bought two more copies of her band's new CD as gifts for friends and family. Fire Moon: "Past Present and Future."

Learning the hammer'd dulcimer is difficult to describe. It is a very
simple instrument in some ways, and sophisticated at the same time. It is almost impossible to play while reading music at the same time, because it requires constant attention to hit the right strings with the little
"hammers" or sticks of wood which are used. By the end of the week, amazingly enough, we were all able
to play, more or less successfully, at least three tunes which we had memorized for our student recital Friday night. |
